This is the "web" home of AutoServiceTech, a company dedicated to providing exceptional training and training materials for the professional automotive technician.
AutoServiceTech was founded in April, 2007 by Peter F. Meier, an ASE Master Auto Technician with over 30+ years experience in the automotive field, specializing in electrical/electronic systems diagnosis, and driveability diagnosis. Originally established as a "web" connection for those who follow Pete's articles in Motor Age magazine, it is growing to become a supplier of on-site training and training guides to meet the demands of ever increasing technology.
In January, 2007, Pete began teaching an advanced automotive diagnosis course at a local technical school. He saw the need for education that not only introduced the latest technology, but also reinforced the need to remember the basics. After all, without a solid foundation, there is nothing to build higher skills on. His first book, Automotive Driveability: A Guide to Engine Performance Diagnosis, followed the format of simplified explanations with lots of practical applications to help technicians who were struggling improve their diagnostic capability.
This site is currently being reconstructed to meet our new mission...to provide current, accurate, and practical information on today's complex automotive systems, so please "excuse our dust". Your favorites will remain on the site, but look for new and better additions to come. As always, your opinions are very important to us. Please use our contact page to tell us what you think, and what you would like to see.

New To AutoServiceTech! (June 28, 2008)
We've recently added some new indexes to the site. First, all the articles Pete's ever had published are now listed in one section. With several on the editorial calendars of these various magazines, look for additional listings soon...any new ones will be at the bottom of the list.
In the old days, older mechanics passed on their knowledge to the younger ones. Not so much anymore. So we've included 3 new sections aimed at meeting the tradition of "passing it along".
The first, "Just For Techs", has articles of general interest in driveablity, electrical diagnostics, mobile HVAC repair, and any other areas we thought might be of interest to those who turn wrenches, and are only available here.
"All About Scopes" is brand new, and will have sections added on choosing a scope, taking basic measurements, and using a scope in ways you may not have thought of. As you can see in other areas of AutoServiceTech, Pete is a little partial to the PICO PC-based scope and will soon be adding an article on all the reasons why it is his personal choice. We are also proud to announce our affiliation with Autonerdz in offering PICO scopes to our visitors. These scope kits include additional probes to make sure you can take the measurements you want, and lifetime support...a feature unmatched by any other PICO distributor.
"All About Scan Tools" is also brand new, and will focus on choosing the scan tool that is right for you and your particular needs, using the various features of the scan tool to the fullest, reprogramming vehicles and accessing factory information. AutoServiceTech is now an authorized distributor of the AutoEnginuity PC based scan tool, and recommends it to techs looking for a cost effective alternative to other aftermarket tools. Check out their demo, and see why.
There is still a lot of work to be done here, so keep checking back often. And we actively seek your input...what you like about the site, what you don't like, what you'd like to see more or less of. Don't forget to sign up for our newsletter so you can be notified of the addition of new articles, news on Pete's activities, and any special offers you may find useful.
