The Motorist Assurance Program, that is.
If you have a question or concern about whether a repair or part replacement is really needed, this organization can help. This is a voluntary consortium of shops, technicians, and manufacturers to develop and maintain a standard for automotive repairs.
The MAP guidelines include when a technician should recommend a repair as "needed" or "suggested" based on industry acceptable standards that help provide a resource for consumers to use when they have doubts about a particular shop's recommendations. They are used in conjunction with, but never in place of, the original manufacturer's specifications and recommendations.
